Related projects

Periodically we’ll post about projects in the area that are related to the themes of Art+History.  

Historic Interpretation: Contemporary Artists Interpret the Historic Collection at the Peabody Historical Society in Peabody, Massachusetts.  This project invited artists to choose any object in the society’s collection and create an original artwork in any media inspired by the artifact.  Artist selections took place in March 2009.  Their artworks will be displayed June 6-October 18, 2009.  

Tricks of the Eye: History and Memory in Today’s Shifting Social Landscape at RISD’s Office of Public Engagement.  Contemporary artworks on view through April 3, 2009.  

Intervention at Payne Whitney Mansion in New York City.  For one night only, the historic house, now the headquarters of the French Cultural Services in the United States, will be illuminated by an original light sculpture by Patrick Rimoux.  The work will feature text fragments from francophone literature.
